Hello all!
It's Wednesday and that means I am here with another tip for you! Today I am gong to demonstrate how to make a zipper flower. There are a few different kinds of zipper flowers, a rolled zipper flower usually comes to mind. Today I will share how to make a zipper flower with petals.
First gather your supplies....
you will need a zipper, needle and thread, scissors and a circle of felt.
Start by stitching the end of your zipper to the centre of the felt circle. Leave your needle and thread handing from the back of the felt circle as youw ill need it again.
Create a loop and stitch through the centre again to keep your first petal secure. You do not need any more than a stitch or two.
Create a second petal and stitch it to keep it secure as well.
Repeat for a third petal.
And a fourth! Now you can tie off the need and thread, and snip it off.
Next you will start rolling the remainder of the zipper from the end towards the centre of the flower.
After rolling part way, put a couple of stitches into the bottom of the roll to hold it secure.
Continue rolling the rest of the way to the centre of the flower.
Now secure this centre 'bud' portion of the flower to the centre of the petals.
Almost done!
Flip your flower over and trim off any excess felt.
Ta da! You have a sweet flower embellishment for your next layout! Next time I think I will try a 5 petal flower, and then maybe a rolled flower.
Note - you can always use hot glue if you are not a needle and thread kind of gal!
Thanks for popping by!

38 Sleeps Until our Spring Retreat!
Hello ladies!
Can you believe our wonderful spring retreat is coming upon us so quickly? In fact, in only 38 sleeps!
For those of you that do not know about it or have not registered, our Spring Retreat is being held the weekend of March 30th! You can find out all of the details here, about costing and location. But the real details are in the friends that you will make and the pages you will create!
What happens when you get a whole bunch of women together for a weekend, well you know the answer to that.... lots of fun and laughter! Well, what about when those women are scrapbookers? That means we have an instant bond, something in common, something that maybe all of our friends do not 'get'. But we 'get' each other, right?
Preserving memories is a passion for us scrapbookers, and having that in common means we have friends where ever we crop. Someone to show our techniques to, someone to borrow a tool from, someone to share our stories with.
We have a few more spaces left for this wonderful weekend, that will leave you relaxed, and feeling accomplished. Even if your accomplishments are shy on layouts and heavy on good food and company, it will be a weekend you will not want to miss.
Your weekend will include great food, lovely accommodations, around the clock scrapbooking should you choose to, and Elaine and Anita as our gracious hosts.
I really hope to see you there, our repeat retreaters can attest that this promises to be a wonderful weekend that you are sure to enjoy.
Thank you for popping by the blog today!

Tips and Techniques Wednesday - Tree Embellishment
Hi there,
Before we get to today's tip, I wanted to remind you to play along with our monthly colour challenge here. You still have almost a week to create and upload a creation using this month's colours!
For today's technique I wanted to share a quick and fun little embellishment with you. I thought this would make a nice accent to a card or layout, so here goes.
First, gather your supplies....
You will need a handful of buttons in colours of your choice, a tree die cute, stamp or heck you could even draw one! I mounted mine onto a scalloped circle as that is how it will sit on my card but you can even add it right onto your project.
Now, wherever you think the leaves should go just add buttons, it's that easy!
And this is my finished card. I weighed my options repeatedly and then decided to leave my card without a sentiment. I can always add one when I am ready to give it away.
Thanks for popping in today!

It's that time of the month again, you know ... my favourite time! Today we are featuring another customer! Meet Sarah Keyes......
Sarah is a fairly new scrapbooker and we met her at our last retreat. Let's take a few minutes to get to know Sarah.....
1. How long have you been scrapbooking?I've been interested in scrapbooking for a couple of years, and started collecting supplies and reading magazines, but never found the time to start. My Mom has made a scrapbook for each of her grandchildren as their 2nd birthday present. When I expressed an interest in helping her with my youngest daughter's book, Mom took me along with her to ScrapMuch's last fall retreat as a birthday present. That's when I finally took the leap and completed my first layout. Now I'm hooked!
2. Do you also create hand made cards?I've dabbled in cards for about 10 years. I prefer making invitations, Christmas cards, etc, where I can mass produce the same design. I struggle giving my cards away though - I just want to keep them for myself!

3. Who is your favourite subject to scrapbook?
Well, we're still working on Elizabeth's scrapbook (hopefully it will be done before she is three!) so she, and our family (my wife Shelley, and our five year olds, Tom & Lily) are pretty much the only focus of my scrapping right now.
4. Where do you find your scrapbooking inspiration?
I love seeing other people's work. It's a good thing scraplifting isn't a crime! The ScrapMuch blog, with the weekly sketches, and all of the inspiring photos, is a godsend for me. I'm also addicted to scrapbooking magazines.
5. Where do you scrapbook?
I've always dreamed of setting up a serious craft room in our finished attic, but until we clear out 5 years worth of kids clothing and baby equipment, I just have to make room wherever I can. Right now, most of my things are at my Mom's, so it can stay out and easily accessible when time permits, without little hands or fingers getting into it. I am really looking forward to the Spring Retreat, and being able to get serious about scrapping again, without worrying about being on Mama duty!
6. What is one of your current favourite products?
Hmmmm....this question is a stumper for some reason. I think I'm still in a honeymoon phase, and just adore everything I try!
7. Do you have a blog that we can share with our readers?
Oh my goodness! The last thing I need is another way to waste time on the computer with!!!!
And here are a few of Sarah's favourite layouts.....
Another great example of coordinating layouts. |
Wow, way to go Sarah, such a great use of multiple photos. |
This is a great concept to show the growth of your kiddies. |
Love that Sarah used photos from two different time frames to show the bond between her daughters. |
Another good example of family ties, with these photos of her little one and Papa, again incorporating photos from different time frames. |
Thank you so much Sarah for being our Featured Customer this month! I really appreciate it, and our readers love getting to know other scrappers!
If you or anyone you know would like to be a featured customer, please send me an email here. You can expect to receive a confirmation email, then a few weeks before your turn a second email detailing what we would need from you. Sign up today to be placed on the list, we are looking for someone to feature for April and beyond!
Thanks for visiting us today!

Tips and Techniques Wednesday - Dutch Fold Card
Hi all,
Happy Hump Day! Did you get to enjoy some time with your sweetie yesterday?
I thought I would share a fun card style as my tutorial today, I saw this idea on the Split Coast Stampers website.
This is what your finished card will look like, of course you can put any image you wish on yours.
The first step is to create a card base that measures 4 3/16 x 9. You will notice this is just a smidge narrower that a typical card, but this will allow the second piece of the card base to line up nicely. Score at 5.5", this will give you a 4 3/16 x 5.5 back and a 4 3/16 x 3.5 front piece.
Next you will need a second piece of card stock measuring 2 x 8.5, and score this at 2 1/8" and 6 3/8". Adhere this piece to the back of the card at the bottom, so that the two outer pieces wrap around the front. Round the two bottom corners, if desired.
This is what your card base should look like now.
Now adhere patterned paper to the bottom and top of the card front.
Decorate and embellish as desired.
Here is a end shot for a different view point for you.
I even added a fun embellishment to the centre, because it looked so pretty there!
Thank you for stopping by my blog today, I really appreciate it when you come by to check on me!
