Tutorial Wednesday - It's a wrap!

Hi there!

Happy hump day!  Well it's official, we are less than a month until Christmas!   Are you as excited as the kids are?  Do you have your tree up?  Typically we have waited until after my middle son's birthday on December 7th, however now that he will be turning 21 it probably doesn't really matter, though I do like to wait until December.

Have you started your shopping?  Are you a wrap as you go kind of person, or do you wait and do it all at once?  I tend to do mine in dribs and drabs, I find it easier to hide unwrapped gifts.  Wrapping when I need to reclaim some closet space.

And, wrapping is what I wanted to share with you today.  I had a small gift to wrap, and didn't want to haul out all of my wrapping stuff (I'm so lazy, it's only under the bed!)  so I put some scrappy stuff to work....

The red paper is a sheet of 12 x 12 scrappy paper that I bought in a kit... I got way too much of it and don't love it as it is flimsy.  But that makes it perfect for wrapping gifts!
Some scraps from last years Jillibean Soup Christmas line were used to die cut the flower and the banner piece.  Using my scraps this way removes any guilt I have for picking up 2 Christmas collections from this year ;)
A dollar store doily and a few gems, 'cause they are pretty and it's a gift for a girl.
And twine, because I love it!

This was a quick and easy little project, and fun, too!  And as a result, I have decided not to guy any wrapping stuff this year!  I will use up the leftovers from last year and chip away at some of my scrappy stash!

Newi in Store - Mini 8 Punches

Hi there!

We have some exciting news!  Some fabulous new tools have arrived in the store!  Eileen and I have been waiting on these with anticipation!

Meet the Mini 8 Punch from We R Memory Keepers.  The following punches are available now....

And these punches are available for pre-order ...

These punches are much smaller that the Lucky 8, so they are not at all cumbersome to cart around the crops!  The price point is also much better as well, selling for only $22.75.

As for their versatility, well you will be amazed at how much you can do with these little gems!  The are perfect for papers from 6"x6" to 12"x12"!

Here is a You-Tube video to give you a quick look at just some of what these punches can do.....

You can order or pre-order your punches by emailing us here.  Watch the blog for upcoming projects featuring these punches.

Tutorial - Snowman Poop Mini Card

Hi there!

I have a fun tutorial to share with you today, for a great classmate holiday gift.  This fun TicTac cover.

I started out with a piece of double sided heavy weight patterned paper, ( this one is by MME) measuring 4.25 x 2.75 inches.
Then I scored it at 1.75 and 2.5" (or 1.75 from each end it that is easier for you).
Next I adhered the little pack of Tic Tacs using a liquid glue, and added the sentiment to the front of the TicTacs with regular adhesive.
Working on the outside again, I adhered the twine to the back using washi tape, it is easy to work with, decorative and really effective for this application.
Now back to the front, after colouring and cutting my images, I matted it onto a coordinating cardstock, then added it to the front of the project using pop dots.
The last step is to add a jingle bell before tying it all up.
This image and sentiment came from the Whimsie Doodles digi shop, they print out in sheets of 20.  For only $1.00 you get both the images and the sentiments!  If you need more than that, just colour the sheet once and photo copy it!  Don't forget you can refer to this tutorial for help with using digis, and you can colour them using the paint program on your computer if you do not like to colour.  Or better yet, get the kids to help colour!  We are sending these to school with my youngest on the last day before the holidays.

Tutorial Wednesday - Mistables

Hi there!

Today I am sharing a few tips on using these new DIY Thickers from American Crafts and Mistable shapes from Studio Calico.
I wanted to show you how fabulous and fun they are for customizing your projects.  Of course, we know they are perfect for the Mr. Huey's mists, but I wanted to try them with a few different mediums.

First up, I tried some Copics on them.  They took the colour great, with good saturation.

Then I tried some basic craft paint, also good coverage.  Although a bit of the texture was lost.

Next, I tried a stamping ink pad.  After a couple of coats, it also looked good.

And here is how it looks with Mr. Huey's.

Have a look at all the options together.

I must tell you that Mr. Huey's is my favorite, it has great depth of colour while still maintaining the texture of the product.  Next to that the Copics are my favorite.

Have a peek at a couple of projects I used these products on.....
This layout features the mistable leaves from Studio Calico.

And this card features the DIY Thickers.

Isn't it wonderful how easy it is to get the perfect colour of accent to coordinate with your project?

Thanks for joining me for this week's tutorial!
