Hello Blog friends and Happy Wednesday!
I am back this week with another video tutorial for you. Forgive the tongue ties and brain freezes while you are watching it is very late at night when I created this video and I had a ton on my mind getting ready for my move this coming weekend.
This time we are making our own Fun Flock, have you ever used this product? I have only tried it a couple of times, though I am not sure why, after trying out this technique I will use it again. The only thing I forgot to mention in this video is that you should use sold core cardstock.
If you want your project that uses this technique, featured on this blog, email me your creation before Thursday, July 7th here.
Thanks for stopping by to see what I have been busy creating.

June Featured Customer
Hello blog Friends!
We have asked Suzanne Carlsen-Skunca to be our Featured Customer this month. Suzanne is a terrific girl, great Mom and talented scrapper. I had the pleasure of rooming with her at the last retreat , she is another late night scrapper like me so it was a perfect fit. We had a great time with lots of laughs.
Let's take a minute to get to know Suzanne better, here are her answers to our standard FC questions....
1. How long have you been scrapbooking?
I've been scrapbooking for about 8 years. I started just after Dana (my 2nd child) was born.
2. Do you also create hand made cards?
2. Do you also create hand made cards?
No, but I wish I did.
3. Who is your favourite subject to scrapbook?
3. Who is your favourite subject to scrapbook?
My favourite subject is my family. I love scrapbooking my kids. I love being reminded of the moments captured with each picture, it keeps me grounded and focused. I love being able to return to those feelings when I look at the pages and I love seeing how the pages remind them of the memories as well (even if they don't pay as much attention to the design details).
4. Where do you find your scrapbooking inspiration?
4. Where do you find your scrapbooking inspiration?
From a variety of sources. Blogs, other scrapbookers, magazines. One of the places I love right now (besides your blog :) is Big Picture Classes. Some of the classes have really made me question the "why" of why I scrapbook, and have helped me recognize and return to the memory keeping aspect of it.
5. Where do you scrapbook?
5. Where do you scrapbook?
Mostly at day crops and retreats. Whenever ScrapMuch? puts on an event and I can make it I'm there!! So excited about the retreat in November that was just announced!
6. What is one of your current favourite products?
6. What is one of your current favourite products?
This is tough. I think I'll actually have to say how much I love my We R Memory Keepers albums. I love the quality and the look. I make a lot of use of brads, journalling spots and Bazzill Basics flowers. And I'm a little addicted to Thickers.
7. Do you have a blog that we can share with our readers?
Not currently. I'm working on putting one together focusing on the changes I'm making in my life. Fitness and food wise. Along with how I'm spending some time on myself (scrapbooking and reading - 2 of my pleasures in life :) I think it will keep me focused and accountable, particularly on the fitness front.
And here are some of Suzanne's favourite layouts that she has created, we can see why!
I love that Suzanne journals, these words will be very important to our children later. |
This layout features beautiful colours, and yes a flower on a masculine layout, good for you Suzanne, and more of your beautiful journaling. |
If that babe and her beautiful blue eyes weren't enough, this layout is lovely too! |
I love that Suzanne has scrapped herself. As the Mom's, the memory keeps and often the 'glue' we are important in the story of our family, good for you Suzanne for including yourself! |
I love that Suzanne used tulle and acetate on this layout. |
Beautiful little handmade flowers. I'd say she's been following along and trying out some techniques, but this gal is pretty crafty! |
A big thank you to Suzzane for playing along this month, we really appreciate our friends and customers.
If you would like to be a featured customer send me an email here, I NEED a scrapper for our August feature, and going forward from there. If you enjoy this feature as much as those of us at ScrapMuch? do, sign up for your turn today!

And she also added a pinwheel to her layout, that was shown here, in last Wednesday's tutorial!

Tips and Techniques Wednesday
Hello and Happy Wednesday!
I have a fun technique for you today, actually just a simple and quick tutorial about making pinwheels to add to you creations.
First, gather your supplies...
You will need a square of double sided patterned paper (mine is 3" x 3"), a pencil, an eraser, a piercing tool or thumb tack, scissors, a brad, and a small circle of coordinating paper, and an ink pad (optional).
First, draw some pencil lines with a ruler from corner to corner of your square.
Using your scissors cut along the pencil lines, but not right to the centre, leave about 1/4".
Erase your pencil lines and ink the edges if you wish. If you are inking you will want to ink both sides of all of the edges.
Next pierce a hole in the centre and one side of the little 'triangles' .
Slip your brad through your small circle piece, then through each of your 4 corners, and lastly the centre of your square, and secure. This is what you end up with.
Now it is ready to use of your project. I whipped up this quick and fun Father's Day card. I have used these pinwheels on layouts too, I am okay with them getting flattened after they are in may album, in case you were worried. They still look like a pinwheel and still add a bit of dimension to your project.
Oh, and here's a little close up.
Do you have a question or a tip you would like addressed? Feel free to leave a comment on this post or email me here

Question Answered
Hello and Happy Monday!
I am loving this fabulous weather, a little too busy to enjoy it but loving it all the same!
I thought I'd pop in quick and answer this question that was posted on the blog over the weekend....
Thanks for your question Brianne! Yes you are correct I crop my photos of my layouts afterward. First, I lay my layouts on the ground in a bright area (which is basically one small area of my living room at about mid morning). Then I use my tripod to keep my camera steady, if you have a steady hand you do not need a tripod, my camera is on my tripod a good portion of the time so it's handy to grab it. Then I look in the view finder and line up the top and one side of my layout with two sides of my view finder, this helps me keep it straight which makes cropping so much easier. A huge tip, stand directly over top of your layout, you do not want any angles as it will give your layout a fish bowl effect and make cropping really difficult. Make sure you are facing the light source so that you do not cast any shadows onto your layout. And then start snapping. I usually take a couple of photos. You never know if you make a slight movement and ruin the photo and it's so easy just to keep snapping once you have things lined up. It's not difficult just a few things to remember and once you do it a few times it becomes second nature. Then open up you photo editing software, I just use Windows Live Photo Gallery, it came with my computer and is fairly idiot proof, which suits me fine! Crop your photos and you are done, though you can play with the settings a bit if you want.
Thanks again for your question Brianne, I challenge you to try out my tips and send me your photo of your layout here, I will for sure post it on the blog!
If anyone else wants to have a layout added to our inspiration slide show, try out this tip on your next layout that you create with product available in our store and we would be happy to share it with our readers. You can email me at the link above.
