Tips and Techniques Wednesday

Hi all!

It's Wednesday again, and you know what that means!  Today's technique is altering store bought embellishments, such as journal-ling cards or stickers.  I usually like to play with the embellishments I buy, giving them a little dimension or pizazz.

While making a card the other night, I decided to use a journal-ling tag that came with a line of paper as the top of my card.  I came up with this idea as I only had a half of the journal-ling card left.  I used the other half on a previous project.  I quite often cut my embellishments in half, more bang for your buck!

Then I decided to alter the dots around the white area, by punching a hole at every second dot.
Hmm, the holes seemed like they needed ribbon running through them (he he he).  Kind of cute, no?  I stamped my sentiment next.
Now a bit more ribbon, and a sticker.  Which, of course, I couldn't leave alone.  I used a fine tip marker to add faux stitching around the sticker and added a gem for fun.  Adding gems, or glitter is always an easy way to glam up a store bought embellishment.
And here is my finished project.
There is so much you can do with purchased embellishments, have a look at this.....

I wanted the grouping of circles on this sticker to run up the length of my card, but it was too short.  I simply cut it at a spot where I could hide it behind something else.
On this card the green 'flower'  between the button and the brown flower was actually a part of a square sticker.  I trimmed the flower from the sticker and used a small pair of scissors to snip each petal into a flowery fringe.  Now I have a lovely layered look and I was able to use an embellishment I had preciously thought really wasn't for me.
Thanks for popping by, I hope you liked this week's tips.
