Sketch-y Friday

Hi there!

Even though today is the very last day of February, we are launching our first sketch for March, that way you all have plenty of time to play along with all 4 sketches this month!

But before we get started, let's go ahead and pick a winner for February ....

Which means Julene is our winner!  Congratulations Julene, please email us at scrapmuch@rogers.com to claim your prize!
And now for the sketch ....

Our friend Sandy is guesting for us today....

You can visit her blog here. Thank you Sandy, we love your layout, featuring this gorgeous Authentique paper and some beautiful embellishments.!

Here is a run down of the rules.  Just link up your creations in our sidebar to be entered into a random draw for a prize.    You have until Saturday, March 29th, at midnight to participate in any of March's sketch challenges, each linkup tool will remain open until that date!  If you are playing along with more than one challenge you will need to link each of them up via a separate blog post for the link up tool to work. (International participants may be required to pay some shipping fees.)

Please note the change in our rules, you no longer need to play along with 2 sketches to be eligible for entry into our prize draw!  Therefore, you can link up all  layouts for the month on one linky tool, this will make it possible for us to use Random Integer to draw for a winner. And we love the fairness of that!

Would you like to be one of our sketch layout designers?  Each month we are going to offer one lucky participant the opportunity to create the reveal sample for one of our sketches!  So if you are interested in being considered, play along and while you are linking up your creation add "GDT" after your name.  The only stipulation is that you must have a blog.

For those of you that prefer kits, Eileen has turned this sketch into a kit ....

You can order your copy here.

Thanks again to all of our participants, keep joining us and linking up as we love seeing what you create!

Thanks for visiting.

Accordian Fold Butterfly Tutorial

Hi there!

I have a new tutorial to share with you. Wow this is the last one in my stash I better get busy creating some more for you!

Start with a 3" x 3" square of patterned paper.  (Well, really any size you want to create.) You will also need some twine or floss.

Fold the paper in half.

Now trim it into a sort of vase-like shape.  You can free hand cut this or pre-draw it with a pencil, it does not have to be perfect, so do not sweat it.

Open up the paper and score at 1/4 inch intervals, across the width of the shape.

Fold up along the score lined and secure in the centre with some floss.

It should look like this. Be sure to leave some lengths of floss for antennae.

Then gently pull open the folds on either side of the centre tie to create your butterfly.

How is that for cute and simple!  And no special tools, you gotta love that!

Thanks for joining me today!

Easy Texturized Alphas Tutorial

Hi there!

Happy hump day, we hope you are planning some crafty time into your week.  we have a little tip to share with you today, maybe you can use it on your next page.....

Are you a fan of dimensional alpha stickers like I am?  I have a quick tip to share with you for an easy way to add a bit of texture to them.

This tip works really great with the foam Thickers, but you can use others as well.

Decide on the letters you need and reposition them to a spare piece of the sticker packaging, as shown above,  Using paper is not an option as you will not be able to peel off the stickers once you are done.

Now using an embossing folder run the letters through your embossing machine.

This is how they will look coming out of the embosser.

And this is how they look on my layout.  You can check back on Sketch-y Friday to see the rest of my page.

Laura

Sketch-y Friday

Hello and happy Friday!

As always, Friday means we have a new sketch for you to play with!  Plus, this week we have  a special treat, it is Guest Designer week here on the ScrapMuch? blog!

Here is our sketch.....

This month  Barbara Greenberg is joining us as our Guest Designer.

I will let Barbara tell you a little bit about herself......

"I was so thrilled to be asked by Laura to be guest designer this month.
Plus I got an awesome sketch to work with and I hope you will enjoy working
with it as much as I did.I've been scrapping for 7 years now and so happy I found this hobby as I can't imagine doing anything else.   It's a rare day that I'm not at my desk
creating.  I am truly addicted to scrapbooking.   The first of the year I also
decided to do a Project Life album for the year.   I'm surprised how much I
like it now.   I tried a few pages last year but just couldn't get into but now
I can see what the craze is all about. My style I would say is clean and easy.  I'm a relatively fast scrapper and never seem to over think what I'm working on, just jump in and go for it. Lately I've been doing a lot of matting and layering on all my layouts and this sketch was
great for my present style."

You can find Barbara's blog here.   Now let's have a look at her beuatiful creation...

Now it's your turn, friends!  Play along and share it with us!

Please note the change in our rules, you no longer need to play along with 2 sketches to be eligible for entry into our prize draw!  Therefore, you can link up all  layouts for the month on one linky tool, this will make it possible for us to use Random Integer to draw for a winner. Silhouette mat tutorial

Hi friends!

I have a fun little tidbit of information to share with my fellow Silhouette lovers (and Cricut lovers), today, it is more of a tip than a tutorial, but I hope it will be useful just the same!

I use a scraper to remove the leftover paper bits from my mat between cuts, but sometimes it can still have paper residue on it, that impedes the paper for the next cut from sticking properly to the mat.  You can see in this photo that my mat looks used but pretty clean. But papers weren't sticking well to it.

So I grabbed a dollar store lint roller ....

... and went to town rolling across my mat.  The only thing you need to know is that you can only roll in one direction. Look at my lint roller, it picked up so much fine grunge that you really couldn't tell was there.

Now my mat is really sticky again, and I was able to use it a lot longer!

Woo hoo this saves me a bit of money that I can now spend on some new paper!
