Hello friends, Happy Halloween to you!

I thought we should have a little fun in honour of Halloween, so I am sharing this photo of our owners in costume, a few ;) years ago.

Cute, eh?

Now let's get you in the mood to scrap!  These layouts were created by friend and customer Joanne at a recent crop, thank you for sharing Joanne!

Both layouts have a great mix of pattern papers and embellishments!

Storage Tutorial

Hi there!

I have a fun and easy storage tutorial for you today.

 To get started you will need a jar in any size or shape that you wish to recycle, masking tape and some chalkboard paint (I am using Martha Stewart's brand as I had it in the house already).

 Mask off the top portion of the jar, at about the 1/3 mark.

No go ahead and paint above the tape, a foam brush works well, this will take a couple of coats.

 Now embellish it up, just for fun!  I am using mine for a piggy bank, but it would make great scrapping storage and with the chalkboard label you can reuse it forever!  Think buttons, ribbon, flair or wood veneer - the possibilities are endless.  Hmmm, I think I will be making a few more!

November 2nd Crop

Hi there!

We are cropping this Saturday, why don't you join us!  Here are all of the details for you!

November 2nd

When:  Saturday November 2nd, 2013, 8:00am-5:00pm 

Where:  Salvation Army Church - 33 Diana Ave, Brantford

Cost of the crop is ONLY $25 + hst and includes lunch, cold beverage and a gift for all attendees! Bring your supplies and get ready for an enjoyable day of scrapbooking!

Our store will be set up on site for your shopping enjoyment.

Don't' delay!! Reserve your spot here or contact us via email at scrapmuch@rogers.com or phone at 905-730-2673.  All spots must be pre-registered to ensure that we have a lunch 
for you.


We will also be offering the following class at the crop....

This is a 3 page layout class, the first page is a standard single page layout with a beautiful fall theme, the second and third pages are created using fun divided album pages, have a look....

Inspiration on Thursday

Hello friends,

We have something very special to share with you today.  A valued customer and friend, Mary, shared these two beautiful creations with us and we would love to share them with you.

I think we all have many reasons why we choose to scrapbook.  For some of us it is a creative outlet, and for others it is about documenting family experiences, sometimes it is therapeutic and other times we create for others.

You see Mary did just that, although I am sure there was a little bit of every reason involved, mostly she created a beautiful keepsake for her great nieces that lost their father way too soon.

Thank you Mary, for sharing these truly inspirational framed layouts.  We are sure your nieces will treasure them.  Mary said she was inspired herself by something that Eileen created, now hopefully she will inspire you.

Glitter Paper Tutorial

Hi there!

I have another super simple but waaay fun tutorial for you today!

We will be making our own glitter paper, so go ahead and grab your supplies.

 You will need some paper of your choice.  It could be patterned, it could be solid, it really is up to you.  I had this striped paper on my desk from another project so that is what I used.  You will also need adhesive tape and glitter.

 Add rows of adhesive tape to your paper so that you create and alternating strip.

 Trim the adhesive tape eve with the edges of your paper.

 Now remove the backing of the tape.

 And sprinkle glitter.

 Ta da,isn't that pretty!

 

 This is how it looks on a card front.

And I know you have seen this card a few times now, but while I created it I used so many techniques that I wanted to share with you, it just keeps coming back! lol

As always, Friday means we have a new sketch for you to play with!  Plus, this week we have  a special treat, it is Guest Designer week here on the ScrapMuch? blog!

This month Wendi Robinson is joining us as our Guest Designer. 

I will let Wendi tell you a little bit about herself......

"I'm wifey to my hot hubby, Jeremy for almost 15 years, and mom to wonderful, 3 cute kids who keep me super busy (all 3 kids are named after cities in different countries). We live in sunny So Cali, and I am a beach lover!!! Scrapbooking has become my creative outlet which I LOVE to do in my spare time. I enjoy making layouts, cards, creating home decor items for our house, and altering!!! I LOVE it all. I LOVE my ipod and itunes, I'm a HUGE Depeche Mode fan, love to walk & do zumba, relax at the beach, and hang out in the backyard with my kids."

Fall Retreat Information

Hello Friends!

Just popping in quick to let you know that if you are retreating (you can find all our retreat info. here) with us next month (now doesn't that sound great!)  NOW is the time to let us know about any food allergies or sensitivities, contact us at scrapmuch@rogers.com with any allergies or food restrictions.  The Elm Hurst accommodates all food allergies and restrictions and will work with us to make sure your stay with us is worry free. 

This fall we will also be hosting a 'scent free' retreat.  We have guests that are joining us that are extremely sensitive and reactive to all scents and we kindly ask that you accommodate this request.

 Please look forward to an email arriving at the beginning of November addressed to all retreat registrants that will outline more specific details of the weekend. 

If you have questions prior to that time, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Twine Bow Clip tutorial

Hi there!

It's Laura here and I have a tutorial to share today.

 To start with you will need a paper clip, twine and a button in the colours of your choice.

Create a loops with the twine, about an inch and a half to two inches wide.

 continue adding layers.

 And more layers.

 Next wrap the end around and secure with a knot.

 You will end up with something like this.

Thread some more twine through a button and use the ends of that twine to tie the loops onto a paper clip.  You will end up with a cute embellishments like this!  Can't you just imagine how sweet this will look on a page or card?

Glittery Accents Tutorial

Hi there!

Hi there Laura here, sharing a fun way to add glittery accents to your projects!

 All you will need is glitter and pop dots.

 I like to save one of the sheets the pop dots come packaged on so that I can isolated the dots I want to add glitter to.  So after you move the desired number of dots to a separate sheet, peel off the top cover and sprinkle them with glitter. 

 Shake off any excess, and adhere to your project.

You can see how I used my purple glittery dot on this card.  Creating your own embellishments does not get any easier than this!
