April Featured Customer

Hello all!

It's my favourite time of the month again!  Featured customer day!  And today we are introducing you to Jenn VanderMuelen-Young !

 This is Jenn with her beautiful family.  We met just shortly before the birth of ScrapMuch? and enjoy her humour and generosity at crops and retreats!

Let's get to know Jenn by checking out her A's to our Q's!
 

1. How long have you been scrapbooking?

I started scrapbooking after the birth of my first son Will (fall 2009). My friend Sheri, an experienced scrapper, encouraged me to give it a try and I was instantly hooked! We would scrap while our babes slept and fill their waking hours with photo shoots (poor kids). Sheri invited me to come out to her hostess club which led to scrapbooking with a fabulous group of girls (2 of which own, operate, and design for Scrapmuch). Love, love, love scrapbooking!

2. Do you also create hand made cards?

I have made a few cards for friends and family and do really enjoy the option of completing a small project when I am in need of some scrap-therapy. I find cards are the only thing I can scrap at home with the cats and kids running around.

3. Who is your favourite subject to scrapbook?

My beautiful boys. My kids are definitely my creative inspiration. Every time I take a picture of them doing something silly I think of what paper would suit the scene and what accents I have to make the picture pop.

4. Where do you find your scrapbooking inspiration?

I am most inspired by the girls I scrap with, they are a very creative group. I am constantly scrap-lifting from each and every one of them. I can be an incredibly efficient scrapper when I have access to someone else scrapbook. Magazines and online sketches are another resource. I am in awe of people who can scrap without a template in front of them - that is definitely something I aspire to do.

5. Where do you scrapbook?

Unfortunately, I don't get much time to scrap. Since the birth of my second son I have hardly scrapped at all!!! I can't scrap at home because of my crazy cats (they get into everything) so I only scrap with I can get together with my scrappy friends. So where do I scrap? At ScrapMuch crops and retreats, charity crops (JustGutsta Scrap), and occasionally I go to a fellow scrappers house and get creative.

6. What is one of your current favourite products?

I love Bazzil flowers! Also, I finally bought liquid glass...I use it to tack down everything! Though my current favourite product has to be the Sew Easy!

7. Do you have a blog that we can share with our readers?

I tried blogging once, I just can't commit to the time it takes to maintain a blog.

We love the muted colours of this layout with a pop of red in the flower.

We love that Jenn used 3 photos on a one page layout, the over sized title is also a great touch.

We love that this layout just says fall, it definitely sets the scene for this sweet photo.

We love that Jenn was able to make this pretty page look masculine as well.

March Featured Customer

Good Morning all!

It's time for my one of my favourite posts, the featured customer!  And this month we have a treat, as our very own Anita (co-owner of ScrapMuch?) is being featured today!

In case you haven't had the privilege of meeting here, here she is.....

Anita is charming and has a great sense of humour, she makes you feel like a friend not just a customer.  She is inspiring not only in her creative style but also in her personal life as well.  She has become a personal trainer during this last year, something she accomplished after working so hard to meet her own lifestyle goals.  On top of owning and operating ScrapMuch? with her partner, Elaine, she teaches Aquafit classes, runs boot camp classes, waitresses and takes care of the three men in her life!

Here is a what Anita had to say in response to my Q & A.s .......

1. How long have you been scrap booking? I have been scrappin' for just over 6 years now. As a matter of fact, this is how I met my fantastic group of friends! I was invited to a neighbour's house to "scrap" and the rest is history! I really enjoy the hobby, and the socializing it brings.

2. Do you also create hand made cards? I do make cards, but not 'for the fun of it'...I only make them for occasions like birthdays, and other special events/holidays.

3. Who is your favourite subject to scrapbook? Hands down, my two handsome boys! (make that 3 as my husband occasionally makes the page!) I am trying to get more diverse with what I scrap, but I really enjoy creating layouts of the boys as I have captured so many of their life's moments. 

4. Where do you find your scrapbooking inspiration? I would have to say I am most inspired by my pictures (although they don't always turn out the best! LOL) For those of you who already know me, I love pictures and photography, but I am not the best at taking them! If I have a great photo of one of the kids, I get inspired to scrap it. I also find scrapping inspiration on the BLOG...I enjoy everything Laura posts, and when I see something I love, it "gets me in the mood" to scrap. The CHA (craft and hobby association trade show) where we go twice a year really inspires me too. It is so neat to see all the design and new collections.

5. Where do you scrapbook? I'm a kitchen table kind of gal. Sadly, I don't have a room in the house dedicated to scrapping. I have set it up in the basement before, and in my bedroom, but find every time, I gravitate to the kitchen table. I also get a lot of scrapping done at our crops and retreats. I find these all day or weekend events a great way to focus on nothing but scrapping.

6. What is one of your current favourite products? Oh, this is a toughie as there are so many new things on the market and in our store. I would have to narrow it down to two. They are both We R Memory Keepers products. First, the Corner Chomper. I used to only have the corner rounder to change the corner of my paper/picture, but the corner chomper comes in different designs and gives a special and different look to the corners. Second, the Sew Ribbon. This tool is awesome as it comes in a variety of styles, and allows you to "sew" ribbon in your layout. I especially love the scalloped sew ribbon.

7. Do you have a blog that we can share with our readers? (insert LOL here!) Before I owned a scrapbook store I didn't even know what a BLOG was! So, NO, I don't have a personal blog. One day. For now, I enjoy the business blog, which, if you are reading this, you are on!

It's that time of the month again, you know ... my favourite time!  Today we are featuring another customer!  Meet Sarah Keyes......

Sarah is a fairly new scrapbooker and we met her at our last retreat.  Let's take a few minutes to get to know Sarah.....

1. How long have you been scrapbooking?I've been interested in scrapbooking for a couple of years, and started collecting supplies and reading magazines, but never found the time to start. My Mom has made a scrapbook for each of her grandchildren as their 2nd birthday present. When I expressed an interest in helping her with my youngest daughter's book, Mom took me along with her to ScrapMuch's last fall retreat as a birthday present. That's when I finally took the leap and completed my first layout. Now I'm hooked!

2. Do you also create hand made cards?I've dabbled in cards for about 10 years. I prefer making invitations, Christmas cards, etc, where I can mass produce the same design. I struggle giving my cards away though - I just want to keep them for myself!

3. Who is your favourite subject to scrapbook?

Well, we're still working on Elizabeth's scrapbook (hopefully it will be done before she is three!) so she, and our family (my wife Shelley, and our five year olds, Tom & Lily) are pretty much the only focus of my scrapping right now.

 

4. Where do you find your scrapbooking inspiration?

I love seeing other people's work. It's a good thing scraplifting isn't a crime! The ScrapMuch blog, with the weekly sketches, and all of the inspiring photos, is a godsend for me. I'm also addicted to scrapbooking magazines.

 

5. Where do you scrapbook?

I've always dreamed of setting up a serious craft room in our finished attic, but until we clear out 5 years worth of kids clothing and baby equipment, I just have to make room wherever I can. Right now, most of my things are at my Mom's, so it can stay out and easily accessible when time permits, without little hands or fingers getting into it. I am really looking forward to the Spring Retreat, and being able to get serious about scrapping again, without worrying about being on Mama duty!

 

6. What is one of your current favourite products?

Hmmmm....this question is a stumper for some reason. I think I'm still in a honeymoon phase, and just adore everything I try!

 

7. Do you have a blog that we can share with our readers?

Oh my goodness! The last thing I need is another way to waste time on the computer with!!!!

This is a great example for putting 2 single page layouts beside each other in an album, if they coordinate (even though they are completely different) as these layouts do, the pages will flow nicely together.

Another great example of coordinating layouts.

Wow, way to go Sarah, such a great use of multiple photos.

This is a great concept to show the growth of your kiddies.

Love that Sarah used photos from two different time frames to show the bond between her daughters.

Another good example of family ties, with these photos of her little one and Papa, again incorporating photos from different time frames.

It's time for one of my favourite posts, Featured Customer day!  Today we are featuring Brianne Goyette, long distance friend and customer.

Let's get to know Brianne a little bet, here is a look at her ScrapMuch? Q and A's.....

1. How long have you been scrapbooking?

The first album I did was way back in 2001.  I still have it and when I look back on it, I have to smile.  It is so very basic compared to what I do now, just glitter glue fun shaped scissors, and stickers galore!

2. Do you also create hand made cards?

I do, although I don’t seem to do it enough. I always have great intentions to make a card then I push it out too long and end up having to buy one. 

3. Who is your favourite subject to scrapbook?

My husband and I and the adventures we go on together.  Currently I am working on our honeymoon album, and really with 1400 pictures to choose from I have a feeling that this album is going to be massive, but it’s a subject I love to work on.

 4. Where do you find your scrapbooking inspiration?

Lots of places: other scrapbookers blogs, sketches, my photos and of course a trip to a great scrapbooking store (or a stroll online), just seeing amazing paper and embellishments makes you want to get home and find the perfect photos to use.

 5. Where do you scrapbook?

I am really fortunate that I have a whole room to create in! I am still in the process of getting it set up the way I want it, but I love that I can just leave items down there without having to tidy up and that I can’t wait to be down there, listening to my iPod and creating away.

 6. What is one of your current favourite products?

I have to say that I have become hooked on Sew Easy.  I can’t do a layout or a card without sewing on it.  I still have lots of issues keeping my lines straight, but the more the I practice the better my layouts turn out.

7. Do you have a blog that we can share with our readers?

I do, I’ve been a little delinquent with it but my resolution for 2012 is to blog more so hopefully I will have a lot more to show you then what is on there now.

I love all of the attention to detail and the themed embellishments.

Look at the great journaling block Brianne used to document details of this trip, the snapshot of the pub's sign is a nice touch, and hey.... you cannot go wrong using green as a feature colour on an Ireland layout.

These photos are stunning and I love that Brianne was able to incorporate so many on her layout.

A huge thank you to Brianne for allowing us to feature her this month, we really appreciate it.  I personally get a big kick out of these posts!

I have been scrapbooking intermittently for a couple of years now.

I made Christmas cards last year and haven't made any since.

3. Who is your favourite subject to scrapbook?

I love to scrapbook by niece and my dog Gracie.

4. Where do you find your scrapbooking inspiration?

I usually find my inspiration from other people and their pages. Certain pictures can also tell me how a page will look.

5. Where do you scrapbook?

I tend to scrapbook with friends and at ScrapMuch? retreats!!

6. What is one of your current favourite products?

I just bought myself a Cricut, so I'm really having fun with that!

7. Do you have a blog that we can share with our readers?

I don't have a blog.

It's time again for one of my favourite posts, our monthly Featured Customer!  This month Stacy Renwick is being featured. 

Stacy is a mom to two adorable boys, a wife and a nurse.... not to mention a talented scrapbooker.  We have had the pleasure of having Stacy join us at crops and retreats it's always fun to see what she is creating.

1. How long have you been scrapbooking?

I have been scrapbooking for approximately 6 years.

2. Do you also create hand made cards?

I do! I just wish I had time to make more of them!

 

3. Who is your favourite subject to scrapbook?

My family & friends for sure!! 

 

4. Where do you find your scrapbooking inspiration?

Magazines, blogs and of course, the talented Miss Laura ;)

 

5. Where do you scrapbook?

I'm lucky to be able to have my own scrapbooking room in my house and I also go to a monthly crop with a group of friends. I also attend Scrap Much ? crops when I'm able to!

 

6. What is one of your current favourite products?

There are so many lines of paper that I love but, currently, my favourite is Little Yellow Bicycle!

 

7. Do you have a blog that we can share with our readers?

No, Unfortunately I don't.

Sometimes a great jumping off point to a fabulous layout is finding the perfect paper.

A great use of multiple and multi sized photos

sometimes less is more and that is so obviously true on this layout, the photos speak volumes
