Technique Wednesday - Paper Ric Rac

Hi there!

It's Wednesday, I love Wednesday's, half way to the weekend!  and I get to share a tip with you!

For today's tip I wanted to share a technique on making paper ric rac.  I love ric rac, it's sort of retro ( I remember lots of my childhood clothes being trimmed in it) and it sits nice and flat and is an easy ribbon to add to a project.  Though I do not love it for making bows, but that's just me.

The other day,  I was wondering if I could make ric rac out of paper... you know for the times when you don't have just the colour that your are hoping to use.

I decided to give it a try and pulled out a scalloped punch and a 1 inch strip of paper.
As you normally would, I punched along one side of the paper.

Then I flipped the paper around and started punching the other edge.  I started by lining up the end of my paper halfway through the scalloped image on the punch.  This makes the two sides of the punch offset.

And this is what I ended up with, I think it is pretty cute.  And pretty much what I was looking for.
Here is a comparison shot with the real thing.  Not bad eh?

I decided to try it with another punch, this is the Fiskars Threading Water punch, one of the most common.  See how this one almost looks like a mixture of eyelet ribbon and ric rac.   Super fun!  I will for sure be using this one a lot!
Another comparison shot for you.

And this is the card that I used my paper ric rac on.

These papers are MME and the bicycle rub on is Bo Bunny.

Thank you for visiting today!
