This is a special post for those of you that are joining us on retreat November 11th. (If you are someone considering our next retreat, this will give you a sneak peek at what to expect.)
ONLY 16 more sleeps until our FALL 2011 Scrapbook Retreat!!! We are very excited to host this wonderful event at the Elmhurst Inn Resort and Spa. In only a couple of short weeks we will be enjoying the beautiful scenery, a full weekend of scrapping and great company. Not to mention, great loot! We have worked out all the final details with the Elmhurst and are excited to share them with you. Remember, this is your weekend! Whether you want to scrap all weekend, get a spa treatment, stroll the grounds or just hang out, this weekend is YOUR getaway. Enjoy! |
Check In & Important Details On Friday, November 11th you can check in at the main building any time after 2pm and get settled into your room. We are scrapping in the Carriage house just a short step away, off the main parking lot. The Carriage House will be open at 5pm at which time you may come and unload/set up your scrappy stuff! There will be a seating chart at the door of the carriage house so you and your friends know where to sit. We will have tables set up on the main floor and upper level. Let the scrapping begin! A Buffet Style Dinner will be served to us in the Carriage house, on the lower level, at 6:30pm. This is just the first of the fabulous meals the Elmhurst provides. (alcohol is available from the Elmhurst at an additional expense) *If you have any food allergies please let us know so we can inform the Elmhurst. You may scrap until your heart desires! We will stay up into the wee hours and ensure the door is locked when we leave so your stuff will be safe overnight. Who knows? Maybe someone will even pull an all-nighter! If you get to the carriage house and it is locked in the morning, please go to the front desk and get the key. It is usually open quite early though. A buffet style breakfast is offered in the main buildings' dining room, from 7am-10am. Join us in the Carriage house for another day of scrapping, at your leisure. A coffee/Teas service and snack will be offered at around 10am, followed by lunch at noon. All meals and snacks will be in the lower level of the carriage house with the exception of breakfast. Our afternoon snack will be around 2 pm, and dinner will be at 5:30pm. We have a fun evening planned, if you so choose to partake. Get in your jammies and scrap in comfort. We will be playing a fun and quick game (to give away some cool prizes!) in the lower level around 8:30 pm and...if you feel like a 'girls night out' away from scrapping, we will be playing the movie, 'Bridesmaids' around 10pm. Scrap until your hearts content again, and do it all again on Sunday! We can scrap until 5pm on Sunday, however check out time from your room is 11am. Breakfast will be available once again from 7am-10am. Lunch and snacks will be served at the same designated times. If you have any questions please contact us at 905.730.2673 or email us at scrapmuch@rogers.com |
Class Information We are offering three classes over the weekend at the retreat. If you would like to sign up for one or more of the classes you can do so by emailing scrapmuch@rogers.com. A sign up sheet will also be available at the retreat however some of the classes have limited space. The first class is a Christmas Card class designed by Laura. The class will start Saturday at 1:30pm. You will be making 6 beautiful cards, featuring a ton of techniques for only $12.99 + tax. Get a jump on your card making! |
The second class offered is on Saturday after dinner where we will make this really cool advent calendar! This Kit is super-cute. For only $16.99 + hst, you can complete this class. Spaces are limited for this class. |

Please ensure you do not shop the store while we are not there and that all purchases are recorded by our cashier. Thank you. Tips and Techniques Wednesday - Halloween Chocolate Wrap
Hi there!
I am back this week with another Halloween treat tutorial for you. This week we will make chocolate wraps for mini chocolate bars. But you could easily modify this to wrap a regular sized chocolate bar, too.
Start out by measuring your little treat for width. Mine is 1 inch wide.
I decided to use this Spellbinder die as my treat wrap, it is the perfect size.
Find the centre point of your die cut and measure 1/2" out form either side of the centre and score. This will give you a 1" space to nestle your chocolates into.
Punch a hole in the centre of each end.
Add a little bit of patterned paper to the front. I used a larger border punch to give the paper some shape.
Next step add your chocolate (you may want to use a little glue dot to keep it in place) and then tie up the top with a bit of ribbon and embellish with soem stickers or chipboard accents and perhaps a button,
That's it, easy as pie!
Thanks for checking in with me this week, I really appreciate it!

Scrapfest Follow Up
Hello all,
I just wanted to pop in a post a few photos of the ScrapMuch? booth at Scrapfest.
As always we work really hard to make our booth feel warm and friendly, as well as provide loads of samples to get the creative juices flowing and offer a deal of some sort to our shoppers. And prizes don't hurt either, right?
Here are a few pictures of the booth....
We received a lot of lovely comments from shoppers and other vendors about how nice our booth looked. It was worth all of the hours of hard work!
We donated a prize to the event. It was won by Beatrice!
Eileen and I are busy getting Friday's night's make and take ready. Eileen designed a really sweet note pad cove and it was a huge hit and we had line ups for it the entire time we ran it. It was my job to run the make and take and I had the pleasure of chatting with 100 women in a very short time. You can expect to see a tutorial on it in November.
Brenda from Wescott also ran a make and take for us on Saturday, which also went over very well. A big thank you to Brenda and Wescott for their support!
Okay, Anita did need two attempts at getting Brenda's make and take right, but once she did, she had the best finished product by far. You may see this make and take at an up coming event (now that Anita has mastered it, lol)!
Here a great shot of Elaine and Eileen hard at work, old school style. Imagine there is no satellite signal in this beautiful newer building, so it was cash and manual credit card transaction all the way! Thankfully, as even though it was our first time at this event, the customers knew what to expect and came prepared.
Look how packed our booth was, this was pretty much consistent through out the event!
Here are some random shots just for you.....
All in all it was a fabulous weekend, It's always fun to get out and meet new friends and customers.
A big thank you goes out to Lisa and her crew at Scrapfest for all of their hard work, especially Gary - what would we do without him! And thank you to all of our customers for their ongoing and continued support, we appreciate you!
Thank you for stopping in today!

Tips and Techniques Wednesday - Halloween Treat Bag
Hello all!
With Halloween about a week and a half away I wanted to share a Treat Bag tutorial with you. These little bags are easy to make so there a great craft to make with your kids for their classmates. You can make a couple of dozen in no time if you assembly line them!
I decided to use the Ziploc snack sized bags for my treats ( you can use what ever suits you or your treats and modify the measurements if need be). The width of these bags is 6.5" so I trimmed some black cardstock down to that width. Then I trimmed the length to 6" so my finished topper would be just shy of 3".
Next measure the new length of your cardstock and score at the centre point to create a fold.
See your little topper is already taking shape. This is a good place to pause and staple the topper onto the bags.
Now embellish with papers and stickers and ribbon or floss until your heart's content!
