Chalk Paint tutorial with Laura

Hi there!

When ScrapMuch?  got a new paint product in the store, I had some fun with it on some layouts and even did a  masking tutorial with it that you can find here, but I thought I would try something a little different this week.  A lot of paper-crafters or just plain old crafters enjoy creating home decor projects and I am no different, this week I combined  that with my love of mason jars (I use them a lot in my house) and came up with this.

You will need a mason jar (or any old recycled jar), American Decor chalky finish paint, and a foam brush.

Give the jar a good coat of paint, try to avoid too many streaks but you do not need to be OCD about it ;)

Let that dry completely and give it a second good coat.

Your jar should look opaque like this.

Now lightly sand a few strategic areas like the shoulders and corners of your jar and the mason label if you are using a mason jar.  If you are using your jar to store crafty items, you are good to go at this point.  But if you want it to be washable you will need to coat it with a clear spray paint (I gave my husband that job as I inhale too much paint when I spray paint seeing as I have to move in real close to see what I am doing).

Mine is currently in use as a vase for the bunch of summery daisies my love gave to me.  I added a simple bow for a little extra pop.

June Colour Challenge

In case you wanted to know, yellow, turquoise and grey are my most recent happy colours (though not necessarily these shades) and a little pink just livens things up PLUS  have you seen Pink Paislee's Hello Sunshine collection?  Well, hello, so much fun!

  To play along, all you have to do is create a new paper crafted project, of any type, that uses the colours from the challenge and post it on your blog or any other online forum  (ie. your Flickr Account) that you can link us up to, by our deadline.  Then link it using the Inlinkz tool in our sidebar.

Laura's Reveal ~ Pink Paislee Hello Sunshine

Hi there!

Happy June!  I am sharing my latest DT reveal today!    I was given some goodies from Pink Paislee's Hello Sunshine collection plus a few other fun things to play with! 

This is what I created:

 I think I had as much fun making this page as my son and I did taking the pictures!

 The Pink Pailsee puffy stickers looks so cute with the October Afternoon chipboard clouds (both from my kit).

 I rotated the little rain drops to make them look like splashes, isn't this little rubber boot darling?

 I cut my title from the raindrop patterned paper but  rotated it so they were upside down and looked more like splashes.  Yes, I know I am a nut!

 This layout is pretty simple, I really wanted to feature that awesome black text paper.   Since triangles are hot right now and I wanted to use some of this paper on my other pages, I went with a large scale half page triangle

 More fun puffy Pink Paislee stickers.

 I used a Tim Holtz mask and some yellow ink from my stash to create the sun ray background for my title.  I Cut my title from white cardstock and the painted it with an ombre effect and topped that off with some Liquid Glass once it was dry.

 I created this banner with suns and hearts cut into it to reinforce my title, though in hindsight I can see that they look a little more like cogs than suns, oh well.

 I really wanted to create this page with this collection, it was the first thing that I thought of when I saw it.  Even though it is simple, I love the way it turned out.

 I used my Silhouette to cut most of the title and the puffy Pink Paislee sticker to finish it off.

 OA chipboard clouds and PP puffy suns are perfect together!  and how about the Queen & CO. bling - LOVE!

 A bit of messy doodling to pull in a bit more black for pop.
