Minimalist Altered Canvas | Tips and Techniques

Hi there!

Laura here sharing a fun home decor DIY today.  I have been wanting to create several "art" pieces for a while now, and recently I got around to knocking one of these off my to do list!

This canvas in very minimalist and focuses on the font, the one word says it all!

I used some of my chunky chipboard Thickers stash (they are easier to paint over than the other styles of Thickers), Zip Dry (to secure the Thickers and make sure they stay stuck), Gesso, and white paint.

After securing the alphas and letting the glue dry, I painted the whole thing with two coats of Gesso, which acts as a bonding agent for the paint as well as a primer.

And then I added two coats of white paint, to make sure it was good and covered.

I am loving how it turned out, I am working on a gallery wall for my family room, but at the moment htis piece is hanging out int he living room!

Thanks fro visiting!
