Sketch-y Friday / Week 4
Hi there!
It's Friday already, we hope you had a lovely Christmas celebration with your family. Do you need something to do to wind down from all of the excitement? Well, we hope you have time to create because we have a new sketch for you!
Elaine used the sketch to create this super sweet sample for us!
I hope you like the sketch and will join in on our challenge. Don't forget to link up your layout in our left hand side bar.
Here is a run down of the rules. We are offering a little prize to one lucky scrapper that participates in at least 2 of this month's 4 sketches. Just link up your creations at the bottom of each Sketch-y Friday post, all qualifying scrappers will be entered into a random draw for a prize. Only one entry per sketch please. You have until December 29th at midnight to participate in any of November's sketch challenges. Each linkup tool, in our sidebar, will remain open until that date! But remember, you must play along with 2 different sketches for a chance to win! (International participants may be required to pay some shipping fees. ) Would you like to be one of our sketch layout designers? Each month we are going to offer one lucky participant the opportunity to create the reveal sample for one of our sketches! So if you are interested in being considered, play along with at least two sketches and while you are linking up your creations add "GDT" after your name. The only stipulation is that you must have a blog. Now get creating! And thanks for visiting!

Holiday Packaging Tutorial
Hi there!
I have a new tutorial to share today.
I love to use up my extra bits and bobs for various scrappy projects on my gift packaging, so I thought I would share a couple with you.
Some may think it boring, but I love to wrap my holiday packages in plain kraft paper. I personally really love the look, plus I like that it doesn't make my room look cluttered like it can with lots of gift wrap. Though I must admit I do love pretty papers. Of course, you can you this tip to coordinate with any wrapping you use.
Haul out your supplies, some white glue, a paint brush, glitter and chipboard alphas (I know you have a stash) to start.
Paint the chipboard with glue and add some glitter, super quick and esy but oh so pretty.
Now for a little more fun factor, do you have a drawer like this? My scrappy 'junk' drawer holds left over bits and pieces from die cut sheets, extra little embellies or die cuts from I have made too many. This is the perfect opportunity to use them up.
I had a little die cut doily from who knows when and some die cut trees from making Christmas cards, they both layered nicely with my glittered letter.
For this one, I pulled out a couple of die cut tags and added a couple of stamped paw prints. This gift is for my youngest, from his puppies.
And here are my newly wrapped packages under my tree.
Thanks for visiting!

It's Friday already, the weeks are flying by, I hope you have time to create because we have a new sketch for you! I not sure if it is polite to say, but I love this sketch!
It was my turn to create a sample so I used the sketch to create this one featuring a really old photo, taken 22 years ago.

Inspiration on Thursday
Hi friends!
How about some inspiration to get you in the mood to create!
These two layouts were created by friend and customer, Julie at our recent Fall Retreat.
This first layout was created using one of our kits.
And this second one Julie designed. I love the masking and the repetition of design, not to mention the story that is told on these pages.
Thank you for sharing Julie.
We are always looking for inspiration to share here so if you have a project you would like to see featured, please email me here.

Paper Trees Tutorial
Hi friends!
I have a new tutorial to today, sharing how to make these cute paper trees.
So let's get started. You will want to grab several sheets of paper for the bases of your trees. I decided to go with traditional green but they would be cute in any colour. Then you will need some skewer sticks or narrow dowels, small Styrofoam balls, something for your bases - these wooden spools work nicely, glue and some embellishments.
I created these templates for you, in both a jpeg file and a png file. click on them to enlarge and then save to your desktop.
You can print them in various sizes onto printer paper and then cut and trace or you can cut your pattern paper down to 8.5 inches and load it into your printer and print directly onto it. Cut along the solid lines. DO NOT score on the dotted line it is just for guidance in lining up your tree. if you score along it your tree will not look round.
Apply liquid adhesive (something quick drying like hot glue or Zip Dry) along this tab and roll your tree into shape.
I used a combination of bulldog clips and washi to hold things in place while they dried. This allowed me to move along from one to the next very quickly.
Now to assemble the bases. I wrapped some holiday washi around my spools. Then glued the Styrofoam balls onto the skewers with the same adhesive as above. Now adhere the skewers into the spools. You can use hot glue if you like. But honestly, I used Play-Doh to wedge things into place. I know this may seem silly, but I figured I would likely want to reuse these spools in a year or two, because lets face it paper trees will not last forever.
Now add some adhesive to the tops of the spools and adhere the paper cones onto them. (They should be good and dry by now.)
Now the fun part, doll those babies up!
Hope you give this a try, they are really fun, and you could do this with gkids with a little supervision with the hot glue part. Or use Zip Dry like I did, I am a menace with a glue gun!
Thanks for visiting!
