Pumpkin Spice Mini Album Tutorial | with Laura

Hi there!

Laura here to share a little tutorial with you today!

While I was playing with the gorgeous Pumpkin Spice collection by Simple Stories, that I was given by ScrapMuch? for my latest DT Reveal, I could help but think "Mini Album" when I saw these papers...

So using two sheets of this particular patterned paper, as well as a bit more paper and some great Pumpkin Spice embellishments I set about creating a cute mini!

Have a look:

I started by choosing a section of this patterned paper for both the front and back of my mini and filed in other pages as I went along.

I tried to create a balance between photo mats and journaling areas.

I also embellished with die cuts, and stickers - popping up some for added dimension.

This mini and these papers are so perfect for anything fall, from pumpkin patches, to cozy sweater selfies, to chasing colours and coffee dates.

I had an extra bit of this pattern left over that I used to create this "fall" page.  I trimmed it a little shorter for some extra impact. I like the varying sizes of the pages.

The page on the right had these great phrases printed on it, I used the second sheet of the same pattern to cut out every second word and pop dotted them over the same words on my original page.

I used a scrap of coordinating pattern paper to create tabs in my album.

A lot of the die cuts, were perfect matches to the pattered papers, both in size and colour so in a few instances I pop dotted the matching die cut over the pattern for impact.

How cutd is the inclusion of a pumpkin recipe!

I took every opportunity to layer elements, you know how much I love that right?!

This seemed like the perfect place to say good-bye!

Once I had my pages created, I punched holes in each page so that I could join them together to form my album.

I played around with the alignment a bit, even used a template to check each page, to ensure that I didn't punch through anything important.

I toyed with a few binding options, and considered jump rings.

But in the end I opted for some pretty fibers from my stash.

So glad you visited today!

November Colour Challenge and October Winner

Hi there!

We have a new colour challenge for you, but first let's pick a winner for our October 2015 challenge!  Using random.org to draw a winner.....

... which means, 1. Claudia's Scrap: Sfida Mensile #Ottobre is our winner!  Congratulations, please email us at scrapmuch@rogers.com to claim your prize, and don't forget to grab your winner badge from our left hand side bar!

Now here is a look at our  November colour line up.....

This fabulous colour board is from Design Seeds.    The photos are for colour inspiration only, this is not intended as a mood board.

To play along, all you have to do is create a new paper crafted project, of any type, that uses at least 4 of the colours from the colour board and post it on your blog or any other online forum  (ie. your Flickr Account) that you can link us up to, by our deadline.  Then link it using the Inlinkz tool in our sidebar.

Please share the challenge colours on your blog (just copy and paste them) and show a link back to this site to encourage your readers to play along, as well.  You can link up your projects here for about 3 weeks following the challenge.

One lucky participant, drawn randomly, will be winning a prize!! It doesn't get much better than that!  Everyone is welcome to play, though there may be some shipping charges to our international winners.

Monthly Reveal with Laura | Simple Stories Pumpkin Spice

Hi there!

It's Laura here today sharing some cards and layouts with you for my monthly reveal using the super sweet Pumpkin Spice Collection by Simple Stories! I adore this collection, with its rich fall colour scheme and great embellishments, it was so fun to work with! Let me tell you a bit about my projects.

Happy Fall

I so LOVE this background paper, it is magic.  So of course it had to be a main part of my layout.  It worked perfect for this page with its tight focal area, leaving a lot of white space (or gorgeous wood grained space) open.

Here are a couple of close up photos of my embellishment clusters, I used lots of pop dots to give my page some dimension.  I also added in a bit of texture paste and floss for extra texture.  I dug into my stash for some alpha stickers that would coordinate and found these super oldies from Studio Calico.  I think they work perfectly, and given their age it was high time I used some of them ;)

Fall Delights

This burlap look paper with the flowers printed on it is another great pattern. I always love the look of these type of papers with a spray of flowers or other pattern in the corner, but struggle with how to use them and often end up using the B side.  So this time I challenged my self to use the side that I struggle with and guess what? I love the way it turned out!

I used a die cut from the collection as part of my title and die cut the word "delights" with my Silhouette.  I really like the look of mixed alpha titles.

More great stickers and die cuts with added dimension thanks to my stash of pop dots!

Autumn Colours

I added a piece of vellum to this page, although I was hoping it would be a little more translucent so that you could see the work I put into the background, I just wanted it to sort of play off the wispy clouds in the photos a bit.

I love these epoxy Bradz, no piercing and no little prongs to deal with!

Another title that is part die cut and part Silhouette cut.

This collection comes with some of the sweetest stickers and die cuts, just perfect for every day photos.

I also created a set of mini gift cards, there was just something about these little round stickers, with cute sentiments on them that spoke to me!

You will be seeing more from me using this collection, in the meantime, please visit my blog if you want to learn a bit more about these projects and see which sketches I used to jump start my designs.

Supply List: Simple Stories stickers, patterned paper and Bradz; American Crafts cardstock; Ranger Texture Paste; misc vellum and floss; Studio Calico alphas.
